It all started with my 2-year-old daughter. It is really important to me that I teach her self-awareness early. I want to make sure she understands who she is, where she fits in this world, and has a no-filter understanding of why she sees the things she sees. I also want to teach her to find her own truth. In doing that, I realized that I needed to find a way to teach her history. Then I realized I didn't even really know our history! So, I set out to learn it. That's when I found the problem. I couldn't piece the various stories and facts together to get a clear understanding of our past, so I came up with the idea of building a timeline for my daughter and I, with events from all the various information I had learned. That way, I figured, I'd be able to see how the story unfolded. So I just created a word doc. About 12 pages later, I decided to make this bigger than myself, recruit experts to help me, and do this for the world. Once this project became too big for me to handle alone, I called my best friend and asked him to help me build this thing. This project is very personal for me, so even if literally no one decides to join us on this journey, this site will still exist because my daughter needs it -- I'd just be adding every event to this timeline myself, one by one, for many years to come.
