Lomax-Hannon Junior College is founded by the African Methodist Episcopal Zion church in Greenville, Alabama.
1893 (Jan 15)
The historically Black Lomax-Hannon Junior College was founded in Greenville, Alabama. The idea for the school had been conceived four years earlier at the annual conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion church in Montgomery, Alabama. At the time of its founding, Lomax-Hannon was both a high school and a junior college, but the high school department closed in 1975. The church continues to run the school.
